Description
These Avocado Truffles are a rich, creamy, and healthier alternative to traditional chocolate truffles. Made with ripe avocados and dark chocolate, they have a smooth, velvety texture and are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. With just a few simple ingredients, these truffles are a decadent treat without any added dairy or refined sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 oz dark chocolate (at least 70% cacao), coarsely chopped
- 1–2 ripe avocados*, peeled, pitted, and mashed
- Pinch of sea salt
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- Melt the Dark Chocolate:
- In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate over a double boiler (a pot of simmering water with the bowl placed on top) or in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each interval until fully melted.
- Let the melted chocolate cool slightly before using.
- Mash the Avocado:
- In a separate bowl, mash the ripe avocados until smooth and creamy, ensuring there are no lumps. If the avocados are very soft, you can use a fork or a blender to get a smooth consistency.
- Combine Ingredients:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed avocados, melted dark chocolate, and a pinch of sea salt.
- Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined. The texture should be creamy and velvety.
- Shape the Truffles:
- Using a spoon or melon baller, scoop out portions of the chocolate-avocado mixture and roll them into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
- Place the truffles onto a parchment-lined tray or plate.
- Coat the Truffles:
- Roll each truffle in the unsweetened cocoa powder to coat them evenly. You can also add extra toppings like chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or more dark chocolate shavings if desired.
- Chill:
- Refrigerate the truffles for at least 1 hour to firm up before serving.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Once chilled, the truffles will have a firm texture. Serve them as a healthy treat for dessert or a sweet snack. Enjoy!
Notes
- Avocado Tips: The riper the avocado, the smoother and creamier the texture will be. Be sure to use avocados that are fully ripe but not overripe.
- Chocolate Choice: Choose a good-quality dark chocolate (at least 70% cacao) for the best flavor and richness. If you prefer a sweeter truffle, opt for a chocolate with a lower cacao percentage.
- Storage: Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
